About

About

MY PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND

I'm an entrepreneurial professional on a mission to use my skills to help people evolve for the better through strategic brand and business-building for better-for-you products and services.  With an educational background in Nutrition Science, I feel especially drawn to people, products, and services that make living healthy, joyful lives more accessible, affordable, and conventional. As an independent startup consultant, I've served as an outsourced COO, CCO (communications, compliance), and CMO for a number of businesses in various industries - health/wellness, tech, energy, food and beverage, crypto. I've also started my own hydration beverage company to normalize hydration in social settings, DrinkLyte. I have recently joined the organic, canned wine brand, Besa mi vino as CEO.

Based on my diverse professional background, you can say what I do best is to lead and execute projects that fall within my personal mission of helping individuals and organizations evolve for the better.

Go to college or start a company? (UCLA Anderson Venture Accelerator Edition) | Build With Rob EP23

It’s different for everyone. If you have the opportunity to accelerate learning by going to college, do it. If you don’t have the option, go learn it the hard way like Rob did. Either road can lead to success. Rob didn’t go to college. In fact, he dropped out of high school and became a professional skateboarder. While his journey to entrepreneurship is a unique one, so is yours. The simple fact is, the more knowledge you have, the less mistakes you make, and the clearer your path to success. While there is no substitute for experience, education can bridge gaps and accelerate proactive learnings. Without formal schooling, it’s on you to educate yourself in all facets of business -- seek out answers, ask the right questions, and learn what you don’t know as fast as possible. No matter your level of education when you begin your first company, it’s still going to be trial by fire to some extent. And joining us on this episode from deep within the burning fires of entrepreneurship are two very impressive founders from the UCLA Anderson Venture Accelerator Program: Jeff Gum is a former Navy SEAL who drew inspiration for his company, Sunga Life, from his travels to Brazil and military workout gear. He’s currently on track to top $1million in swimwear sales in 2021. https://www.sungalife.com/ Tori Brodsky is a nutritionist by education who takes hydration very seriously, especially when you drink alcohol. She created DrinkLyte, which delivers medical grade hydration in two delicious flavors, one for the end of the night and one for the next morning, to stave off those nasty hangovers. https://drinklyte.co/ Rob links: subscribe: @Dyrdek Machine website: www.dyrdekmachine.com instagram: @dyrdekmachine @robdyrdek twitter: @dyrdekmachine UCLA Anderson: website: https://www.anderson.ucla.edu/about/centers/price-center-for-entrepreneurship-and-innovation/anderson-venture-accelerator social: @uclaanderson @andersonentrepreneurship
